This is the third version of the Cat Tales. Each time I thought I was finished, something happened that required a rewrite – most notably was the New York Auto Show where the F-Pace won the 2017 World Car of the Year and the design category. Closer to home, it was discovered by Bill Bingham, long-time member, (former CJC President and membership chair with wife, Margaret) that May 2017 will be the 25th anniversary of the Carolina Jaguar Club. Read more about the club’s history in Bill’s article in the May issue.
It would be interesting to create a montage/collage of photos from the club’s early days for publication in the May newsletter. If you have photos you would like to share, please scan and email them to our newsletter editor, Jerry Cohen. Don’t forget to include descriptions/names/dates with the photos.
JLR-North America has extended their exclusive JCNA-member offer on the purchase of a new 2016 or 2017 Jaguar through June 30, 2017. Details on the offer are available on the JCNA website. This is a great time to buy a new Jaguar!
This year’s annual road trip has been moved to the fall – Oct. 3 – Oct. 8 and the destination is Knoxville, TN. Jerry Ellison, our road master, is working on an event and driving-filled week with help from CJC members, Skip and Judy Meyers. This is one road trip you won’t want to miss.
In March, the 2017 AGM (Annual General Meeting) was held in Vancouver, BC. At the awards banquet, our club member, Jerry Ellison received the President’s Award. This award recognizes individuals who contribute to the benefit of the JCNA in an area not readily recognized for awards and is awarded at the sole discretion of the JCNA President. Jerry Cohen, The Litter Box editor, received the Karen Miller (Editor) Award – JCNA Newsletter Editor of the Year. Karen Christine Miller (1945- 2003) was Associate Editor of Jaguar Journal from 1985 and the Jaguar Cars North American Archivist from 1990 to 2003.
This award is presented annually to the JCNA affiliate newsletter editor who best represents Karen Miller’s talents and ideals as a writer, editor, historian and ultimate Jaguar club volunteer.
Congratulations to both of them for their outstanding contributions to the Carolina Jaguar Club and JCNA. This weekend is The Gathering at Shelton Vineyards. We will meet at 11 a.m. for a short club meeting on the grounds where our Jaguars are parked. I look forward to seeing you there!
